Zientzia Jolasak is the science-game platform promoted by POLYMAT. This text covers the pages of this website, zientziajolasak.eus (home, games, Sorleku, contact, Polymer adventure, statistics, project and legal notice, in Basque, Spanish and English). POLYMAT's games platform, hosted on the same domain (zientziajolasak.eus/polymat-play/), and the game pages (zientziajolasak.eus/content/) are not covered by this text, except for the optional account described in section 3. External links on this website take you, in a new window, to other websites, which have their own terms.
2. Intellectual property
The source code, graphic designs, images, animations, software and texts, as well as the information and content of this website, are protected by Spanish legislation on intellectual and industrial property in favour of POLYMAT. The reproduction or publication of the website, in whole or in part, and its computer processing, distribution, dissemination, modification, transformation or decompilation are not permitted without POLYMAT's prior written permission.
Exception: games, when published, are released under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 licence (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0), with the authorship stated on each game's page. The Zientzia Jolasak brand (symbol and name), the POL character, the POLYMAT logo and the logo of its games (the «PL>Y» in the header), the Basque Government and FECYT logos and the logos of the research organisations are not covered by that licence: their rights belong to their owners. The typefaces (Montserrat, Open Sans and JetBrains Mono) are licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.
Community games (Sorleku gallery): each one carries the Creative Commons licence chosen by its authors, stated on its page. Zientzia Jolasak does not review them before they are published; whoever publishes them is responsible for their content. The authors can remove them from the gallery at any time, and Zientzia Jolasak can hide or withdraw them, after a report or on its own initiative. To report a game, use the «Report» button on its page or write to us from the contact page.
Users may use the material on this website for personal and private use only; its use for commercial purposes or for unlawful activities is prohibited. POLYMAT will ensure that these conditions are met and that the content is used properly, and will take the civil and criminal action available to it if these rights are infringed.
3. Data and cookies
- This website does not use cookies, either our own or third-party ones, and does not ask you to register to play. It uses no third-party analytics tools and loads no third-party resources: fonts and images are served from this same server.
- If you use the button in the menu to choose the dark or the light theme, your choice is stored only in your browser (localStorage; key «polimerasa-gaia»), so that you see it the same way on your next visit. It is not a cookie, it does not leave your device and it does not identify anyone; since it is a feature you ask for, it needs no consent. To delete it, clear this website's data in your browser.
- If you like, you can create an account to save your progress and points in the Polymer adventure; you do not need one to play. Only a name and an initial are asked for, with no password or email: since anyone who knows the name and initial can sign in, do not use your real name or any personal data. This server only stores the name, the initial, the creation date and the number of games played, games completed and printables opened for each game, with the date of the latest (no IP addresses, no cookies); it is the same account used by POLYMAT's games platform. Your browser stores the account number and a key (localStorage; key «pp-jugador») to remember the session; they are deleted when you press «Sign out».
- Sorleku (the game-making workshop) is used with a Zientzia Jolasak account. When you start a game and while you work, the project (texts, uploaded images, chosen licence and the authors' name or alias) is stored on this server, linked to that account, so you can carry on from another device; your browser also keeps a copy (localStorage). Projects are kept until you delete them, or are deleted automatically after a year without changes. They are not shared with anyone. Since the account has no password, do not write personal data: the system rejects texts that look like an email address, phone number or ID number.
- The start code is only checked on the server; it is not stored, only a cryptographic digest of it.
- Gallery: if you switch on «Show in gallery», your game becomes public straight away (after automatic checks, with no prior review): its content, the alias you choose (or «Anonymous») and the Creative Commons licence you choose will be shown, and anyone will be able to play, download and adapt it under that licence. If you switch it off or delete the project, it disappears from the gallery straight away and its content is deleted from the server (only its number is kept, so it is never reused). Your account number is never published. The published copy is kept separately from the project for as long as it is in the gallery (even if the project is deleted automatically after a year); if you have lost the account, write to us from the contact page to remove it.
- Reports: anyone can report a game with one of four fixed reasons, with no free text. No data about the person reporting is stored: each browser has a random anonymous key (localStorage; key «zj-salatzailea») and the server only keeps a cryptographic digest of it to count reports; the IP address is only used for a daily limit, digested with a daily salt, and deleted after 3 days. If three different browsers report it, the game is hidden until Zientzia Jolasak decides; Zientzia Jolasak can also hide or withdraw it, and its content is then deleted.
- The assistant (AI) is optional and needs the code. When you use it, the texts of that step and your note are sent to an external AI provider (Hostinger's AI Router and the provider of the chosen model) only to get the answer. This server does not store those texts; it only records the number of requests and their estimated cost, per day and per code label, without IP addresses. Under 14, it is used with a teacher or another adult.
- Sorleku's statistics are aggregate (how many projects are started and downloaded, and how many gallery games are published, played, downloaded and reported, per mechanic), with no identifiers; with «Do Not Track» or «Global Privacy Control» switched on, downloads are not counted.
- Videos: until you press a video, the page does not connect to YouTube (thumbnails and titles come from this server). Pressing it loads YouTube's player (youtube-nocookie.com), which applies its own privacy terms.
- For the project's indicators, the website counts its visits with its own anonymous, aggregate counter: when a page loads, only its address and language are sent, and only the number of visits to each page per day is stored, on this same server. It uses no cookies and stores nothing in your browser, and it records no IP addresses, browser details or identifiers, so no one can be recognised. If your browser has «Do Not Track» or «Global Privacy Control» switched on, the visit is not counted.
- The provider hosting the website (Hostinger) may generate technical server logs (IP address, date and page requested) to keep the service running and secure. POLYMAT does not use those logs to identify anyone.
If you write to benat.olave@polymat.eu, your address and your message will only be used to reply to you and will not be passed on to anyone. To access, rectify or erase your data, or to object to its processing, write to that address. If you believe your rights have not been properly respected, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es).
